Outside the gates Bob encountered a matchmaker who offered to find a suitable bride for him. Bob brushed by him without much notice but I committed his proposition to memory, it might be good to start the heir creation process soon.
Bob seemed ill-at-ease with the high-class manners of the court. He always did have an abrasive manner. Ah well his skill with the sword should more than make up for his lack of skill in social areas.
The assassin agreed to an honourable duel in the castle courtyard, surprisingly. His conditions were that if he killed Bob than he would win his freedom. Courtiers gathered around to watch, fanning themselves against the summer heat. The assassin lunged forward scoring a hit on Bob.
This infuriated him and he slashed left and right quickly scoring two hits in rapid succession. However this opened him up to another hit on himself. Both men were badly wounded at this point.
However Bob lifted his katana up high. It glinted in the sunlight before descending with the speed and wrath of the heavens and severing the assassin's head. The courtiers cheered and came forward to congratulate the victorious Bob. Bob shrugged them off and approached his entourage (myself and his other trusted aides). We treated his wounds and congratulated him. He shrugged us off saying that he showed no honour today, just rage. He drives himself too hard.
Later that day a messenger approached us, bringing dire news. Our great fief was under siege by Eisei of the neighboring province of Takenda. Bob immediately departed, despite his wounds.
As I was packing up, a courtier came up and said Lord Riemon had a task for Bob. I told him that he had already departed to defend his fief from invasion, but he might be able to do it at a later date.
The courtier said that Lord Riemon might not take the news so well.
By the time I arrived, the samurai were already marching to battle. Apparently the speech Bob gave was quite rousing, I'm sorry to have missed it. Damn those womanly courtiers and their incessant prattle.
Luckily our army outnumbered theirs. Our first regiment engaged their second regiment as it was leaving the wetlands.
They were annihilated. The second one turned to engage our victorious troops...
And they too were wiped from the mortal plane. We are victorious!
What now? Back to the courts to see what Lord Riemon wanted? Perhaps to court a bride? Or perhaps some other third thing?
