Now...decisions, decisions decisions...something is coming you way. you could either build up you filaments and keep them to try and fight it, or order the scout to commit suicide, or do something else entirely...in any case, your size is now smaller...merely a 16 circa cm*3 sphere.

the -60 and -30 filaments were the distance your roots di per se covered to reach the first tree roots.
to go 5 m underneath, it's 1 filament per cm*2.
so basically...you need more filaments.

we got A LOT OF food, so yes, moar filaments, backup, and order the scout to escape underground, or if impossible, lure the biped far away.

Also dig deeper, and get that grass unnoticeable (turn it normal-green). And move at night.

now, since you have the rough filament assembler, it costs 30 food per filament you have at present
4224 food.
you can either go with 140 filaments, reducing your food supplies to 24. (this would give you a range of 148 cm*2 which is one meter and half.).
Please notice though that you yourself can be moved.

you could ameliorate your roots to make them "mobile" thus retractable, with that done you could either literally "fly" away (as long as you power up those wings of yours) Or have your underlings dig deeper for you.

no, it's just that it costs 30 food per single filament.
so for every filament it's 1 cm*2
five meters underground is still five meters.
it's a line of 500 Cm.
