OK, so. Two things. One related to current going-ons, one not.

Firstly, I apologize that things are kind of stagnant. The issue is that I'm trying to use the prologue to introduce what might be key characters (depending on what sort of direction your characters take later on), while giving you all ample opportunity to ask any IC questions you might have. Once it's over, you'll be given a lot more control over what you do and don't do.
But one thing will remain the same, for the most part, and that's how I'll handle player involvement. Simply put, you need to try to get involved in an event in order to...get involved in the event, I guess. If you just stand around doing nothing, the world will continue to act around you. Of course, if you stay with the war you'll be receiving missions from higher ups and stuff so I mean...

Second, I've been working on some changes to flavor. The most major of these changes is that, outside of some Freewater Holds and a few countries where the Church of Light doesn't have as much of a hold, magic of the arcane variety has been outlawed. Shamanism and Druidism run the risk of being mistaken for arcane magic, though Druids are able to acquire permits. Naturally, this would put Sven in a rather dangerous position because he is a spell-caster, so I won't be effecting this campaign with those changes. However, I may put forth legislation in a few countries to that effect as a sort of side-plot. It wouldn't ever come up/exist as a worry until you actually arrived in their major cities and it became an issue, however.

I had planned from the start to keep my mage-ness a secret. I intend to keep plausible deniability a part of my use of magic; for example I would use a non-magical slow fuse in addition to a hidden mage-fuse for a bomb that 'just happens' to explode at an opportune time.

Same goes for Leiara. We're both now indirectly under the General's command, and obviously will not leave unless ordered to investigate the alarm.

If an opportunity to give himself some kind of advantage, or benefit him and his allies in some way presents itself, D'zelik can usually be expected to take it, regardless of orders given to him by others. Currently, he doesn't take any of his "superiors" very seriously, and feels he is easily the most experienced and capable out of everyone he's encountered so far, so he won't hesitate to go against someone's commands if he thinks he has a better idea.

With the Captain...

The guards rush to the palisade. And stand. And wait. Nothing seems to actually be attacking the village itself.

The Village Center...

Not far from the tavern, D'zelik lazily walks into the path of a running Dwarf and Gnome.

"If you want to fight," the General cuts in, "then now is the time. Gather your things, get to the palisade. We're under attack."
He turns and marches off down a different side road, barking a few orders as he goes. The Lieutenant coughs, and makes a few waving motions with his hands. "Uh...grab any equipment you need. Someone help me carry the rifles and armor for the people who went with the Captain..."

"Did you see the dwarf? He's decked out already, not to mention I wouldn't trust him with a rifle, probably shoot himself." Wesley said as he picked up some of the equipment, "And what about that gnome?  Running into danger unequipped, I thought gnomes were smart?

"If by 'into danger' you mean over here where the equipment is, than yes, that is exactly what I am doing." said Sven as he picked up some equipment (whatever armor was gnome sized (preferably light armor), a gun and ammo, and hopefully some smallish melee weapon like a shortsword or dagger)
