Weapon wise I'd assume a standard Dagger/Bayonet would work.

Done with Sven's character sheet. Updating that little info dump, and then beginning work on the introduction to the prologue...

E: Post updated.
The reason Sven doesn't currently have a spell book is because, well...I don't have spells fully written yet! I'm working on that, and as soon as I've got a few first circle spells done up I'm sure one will conveniently turn up. Till then, bear with me please.

Prologue: Bootcamp

With the rhythmic tick-tock of a monolithic clock and the chugging roar of piston and engine a behemoth of steel, born by rails of iron and its cold, ever-burning heart, tears through the country side. This locomotive is one of many, once built as an experimental form of transportation and a novelty for the wealthy, now used by the common rabble and filthy soldiers as they plod ever forward towards their collective demise. In time, one will stop at a small town by the name of Oakrest, the verdant and lively scenery a stark contrast to the deathly silence that had fallen around it in the recent days and violently juxtaposed against the scorched and dead earth that lay a mere day's march to the north-east, to the ever present stench of burnt and rotting flesh brought south by wind and spring rain. The locals are used to it by now, and as each great steel beast comes to a slow and grinding halt, its billowing smoke easing to rest, workers will swarm to gather the supplies delivered. Food, weapons, and medicine for the soldiers that guard this place, and, more importantly, oil and kerosene with which to destroy the dead lest they too rise.

You now find yourselves on one such transport, the box seizing to and fro with each rise and descent of a hill, sparks flying up by the window to obscure a view of farmland recently abandoned. The passengers are mostly human on this train, for it bears reinforcements from Arkros, but there are those few who are not. You brave six find yourselves in a single cabin together: A dwarf in tattered steel plate, a goblin in cured and tanned hides, a human male in leather conscript's garb, a lean and golden-haired Arkrosian noble, lithe and graceful elven huntress, and anxious gnome.
There are others here besides you six. Two, in fact. Another conscript, face ruddy beneath a mop of dirty unkempt hair, naps in his seat by the door, and his companion, a burly mustachio'd gentleman with the hands of a smith. The smith is more wakeful, cold eyes peering out from beneath a single bushy brow, hawk-like as he watches the world pass by.

You have been sitting in this cabin for some time now, wordless. Perhaps it would be best to get to know those who you will die beside?

Guess I'll be the one to break the ice:

D'zelik looked around at his new companions. This would be his first time working with non-goblins. Though a tad hesitant, he figured it would be best to at least try and get to know the people he would be working with during his time away from the desert.

Never being one for pleasantries, he decided to skip directly to the point. "So, what are you all good at?"

"I kill things... And I kill them well, eh?"  Fibleck said in a gravelly voice making a small pyramid out of small bits of dirt lying around. "You wouldn't happen have any spare socks on you you don't want?"

"I can repair equipment fairly well. Aside from that I am fairly new at this."

(OOC):
Some questions to take stock of abilities and such:
- Is it just metal armor or armor in general that conflicts with spellcasting?
- Can the difficulty with mechanical items be partially worked around by enchanting a specific component (such as a spring or wheel) and than adding it in afterwards?
- Are temporary enchantments (lasting a few hours to a day) reasonably doable if you have the time to prepare them?

Wesley's head was firmly stuck to the window as he stared vacantly at the rapidly passing scenery, ignoring the other passengers.

Leiara regarded the speaker, turning her gaze away from the scenery and the passing sky.
"Hunting. Though I usually work alone."

She looked at the rest, ignoring the sudden bump of the transport as it hit another rock; they seemed bored, some looked apathetic about their fates while others just stared out into the surroundings. She wondered what they were thinking. In all, they were heading through dead land, dead to the ravages of war. Maybe a bit of open conversation would help.

She looked at the nearby Dwarf then turned to the rest. "Say, let's all get acquainted with each other hm? If we're going out to battle anytime soon, at least give your names. I wouldn't like to fight alongside strangers. I am Leiara Talderin. Huntress of the Felian Clans," she said with a smile.

((Edit OOC: If I can dual wield with a weapon smaller than a short sword (parrying dagger or such), will the penalty be negated? Or am I thinking too realistically?))

The elf's inquiry distracted D'zelik from thinking about how the skills of his new allies could be best used. He was also intrigued to hear the that he wasn't the only professional hunter here. Hopefully her preference for working alone would not prove to be a hindrance.

"D'zelik Axriluz.", he replied.

With a beaming smile Sarek stepped forward made a deep bow and answered "I am Sarek Tel'Hal and I have trained with rifle and sword for most of my life, I can also ride well enough." He scanned each of the passengers "I am sure each of you shall also be helpful in your own way, we must stand united against this threat and all that eh?"

Sarek then proceeded to offer a hand-shake to any who would take it, simply moving on without issue from those who refused.

"Quite the motley crew we have here isn't it, I had not thought I would be fighting alongside so many interesting common-folk. I hope I can learn something from all of you and in return teach you a thing or two myself."

'Common-folk?'

Still with a smile, Leiara inspected the man, he looked much like the higher-classmen in the human cities. Why was he here?

She accepted the handshake.

"It's strange to see someone in your apparel away from the cities, stranger still to see one as open-minded as you." She nodded a greeting to D'zelik, the atmosphere still felt heavy with gloom. She turned back to the rest. "I don't see any benefit for holding back, so I'll be truthful here. I'm skilled in the art of bow and blade, able to work with two swords in hand; taught to track and hunt even the most elusive of prey and perform better when flanking an unwary opponent.

"So what are your expectations, men? I'm sure we'll be busy when we reach our destination, but it would help in passing the time."

D'zelik offered a acknowledging nod to the nobleman, and reached out with his bony hand to accepted his formal greeting.

He then raised an interested eyebrow after hearing the elf's proclaimed skills. If she was as good as she said, then she would no doubt be a valuable member of this little group. He briefly wondered how her hunting prowess compared to his own.

He looked toward Leiara to answer her question. "What I'm expecting is a challenge."

The sleeping conscript does not respond or take the offered handshake, if one is even offered to him. He is, after all, sleeping.
The mustachio'd man, however, finally breaks his concentration to shake the human's hand and respond. "It's a pleasure, sir," he rumbled, "Or would be, 't weren't for the situation..."

He pauses for a moment, and then looks to the Huntress. "Ah...Finch. Used to be a smith, can still bang your armor int' place if y'need it. Head of a squad o' field medics nowadays though. Not that we ever get there in time. Can't say I envy you lot...an' you'll get more'n yer challenge, green-skin, trust me."
