Also try to find out if you could lend a donkey from the university. Much less tiresome then walking.

hmm. We should look into what kind of power structures there are - who runs the university? Who runs the town? who defends it? Who do the people look to for guidance?

Everyone is encouraged to read both Divinity and Demonhood, so metagaming is inevitable. You may OOC discuss anything you like, but I would prefer if you try to make the actions as independant of that as possible. Also, there is now a notes system(the equivalent of glossary) for Humanity in the first post. For a lot of other information look into the Demonhood glossary, though for the most part Obek knows only geographical information, and not about baneghouls or the like.

You agree to go with Paul and part ways for a little while. While Paul was setting things up, talking to people, organizing the whole thing, you were getting some books on demons and looking things up about Aviemore. This goes on for a week, maybe two. Slowly the truth was told to the rest of the populace and priests and soldiers were being sent to defend the towns near the demon. The priests went willingly. The soldiers werent as happy about going, but they had their jobs to do. The people took the news better than you might have expected, and were rallied rather than frightened.

You and Paul however, prepared still. Paul had collected a group of people to go with you and gotten permission and support from the king to go and retrieve Grimbane, even if it requires going into Nagatron lands. The king also gave you some coin and some horses. The coin you use for equipment. With a demon loose, who knows what else might be out there.

And finally you are off, with your new pair of boots, your new armour and weapons, your horse, and some books. There are 7 of you in the group. Most of you arent warriors, but scholars or simply people who Paul thought might help on this trip. There are 2 warriors to escort you, and next to the rest of the group, they look incredibly strong. The small group moves quickly and reaches Aviemore in a matter of days. Nothing much happened on the trip.

You arrive in the middle of the night. Paul guides you all to a particular inn. You dont have the time, nor is there enough light to get a proper look at the town, but you would say there are a lot of inns, although you presume that its just this section of the town. The inn Paul guided you to apparently had an innkeeper that was a friend of his, and you get a room for the night without too much of a fuss.

In the morning you all decide to split up so you can possibly find more information about Grimbane and Vasier Gehenna than you would only looking in one place.

So, where do you search? Just ask around? Look for someplace that contains records? Go sightseeing and let everyone else look?

The notes are actual notes that Obek is carrying around and practically all he knows about the topics he writes about, or simply what he cares to write about.

Presumably the man himself is long dead- but perhaps his family still lives in this area. Just talk to people on the street, ask if they know anyone by the name of Gehenna, or if they know of anyone who might know about the descendants of of Vasier Gehenna.
If so, we should visit them.

Look in a temple, anti demon stuff is usually there.

Also if you get the time ask for training from the guards. SOme combat skills may just help us survive.

We don't know anything about combat, and we are interested in it even less.
Lets stick with the sciences for now. Gather some info, try put the things together in your head.

Thats why i'm saying we should get a general overview of combat. Not enough to make us a combat person but enough to keep us alive if the group gets attacked.

Right now you dont know much about combat, but you know enough that you cant just learn to fight better in a single day. Wait until you have more time, when you arent doing something specific. I need something to sync up with Demonhood anyway, and long term things like that are perfect, but later.

Re: Humanity. -Obek Vandel meets an old man [Edited because it was stupid]
« Reply #72 on: February 10, 2012, 01:52:34 pm »

EDIT: Occasionally I get stupid and write some random crap. This was one of those times. Hopefully less stupid now.

You talk to people on the streets and to anyone you can see. None have heard of the Gehenna family, nor of Vasier. But you do not falter in your search and walk around town for a while, asking about them. You search and you search, but nothing. That is, until you see a run down shack on the outskirts of town that everyone seems to be avoiding. In front of the house, on a rocking chair sits a feeble old man, with a disconcerting smirk. He is staring at you, almost as if your very presence is amusing to him.

You step closer to him and his smirk becomes a grin. "What might a kindly old man do for you?" His eyes are shifty and you arent quite certain that the man is well in the head. You ask him if he has heard of Vasier Gehenna or of the Gehenna family. He states that he has, and he knows where they have gone. You both stay silent for what feels like an eternity until you realize he isnt going to tell you. "Where did they go then?" "I will tell you, but you must promise to take me with you. Havent had a good quest in a while." You feel as if his grin at this point is going beyond his ears. You really havent seen anybody grin like this before. He takes a good look at you, and states: "Vasier is long, long dead. What remains are his childrens childrens childrens children, give or take a couple children, my memory isnt what it used to be. But what remains of his family travelled to Barrsmouth a while back." Somehow you feel as if his head has turned inside out from the size of that grin, while it clearly hasnt.

"What are you waiting for?! Lets go! Barrspring awaits!" The old man jumps out of his chair and runs to his shack, coming out with what is apparently a mages staff, although very old, almost snapped in half in a single place and covered in sketchings of bears. You can physically feel the lack of power being emanated from this artifact of not so great power.

What do you do about this old man? Take him with you, and possibly piss off your compatriots, or leave him here and gain the ire of an obviously crazy and senile old man?

The old man might be trouble, but insanity has its perks. You decide if you want to keep him.

What sort of Hero would we be if we did not take up every single offer to join us in our epic quest?

Bring the crazy old man! Perhaps he will divulge useful information in between his mad rambling.

Wait, Barrspring is under control of Krlnkir Yrlvnt. Barrmouth is totally diffirent place in game. Is that old mage trying to rule us into trap or just messed something up?
