So, I accidentally put the wrong dwarf into squad and I can't figure out how to make him on his own again. Using "Promote" doesn't promotehim at all - he still sits in the same squad...

Think you might have to promote everyone else. This part might have to be cleaned up a little, but that's for the future.

press enter on the squad memeber you want to be alone and press enter again and he will be promoted to his own squad.
