Armor for War Dogs

One more suggestion and I think this one would be pretty easy to implement... I'd love to be able to armor my trained animals, even if they're limited to leather or something.  I hate having guard dogs that get instantly butchered in combat because they have no protection from critical attacks.

It's on the wishlist.. and I think a modding workaround might be possible soon.

It is possible, but they will be members of your fort rather than war/hunting animals.

Armored dogs was something I was hoping for too actually.  Poor pups just get slaughtered out there.

As stated in the rules at the top of the forum, please search before posting.  This is a popular suggestion, as shown by a search for "dog armor":

You could give them 'bodypart armor', a bodypart over the torso that is made of metal, for instance.
A bit crude, but armoured dogs!

I think the title of this thread should be "Needs more cowbell" in honour of tamed animal equips. Just sayin'. Maybe a Will ferral gif thrown in too, for good measure.

I support this. Historically, war animals of all kinds were adorned with all kinds of protective armor. In medieval times war dogs were fitted with hardened and spiked leather. Sometimes even expensive chain mail.

In truth, I think war animals should be toughened up a lot. War dogs could tackle a fully armored knight of his horse and kill him. How is it my war animals can't even take out a goblin in copper?
