"Fine. Are you alright?"

FANTASTIC. Loved it, seriously.

Anyway, yes. Ask if the girl/the man/your hat is alright. Ask why the village was burning.

"Fin-," Bael luanches into a long racking cough. The girl hands him a canteen. After a few seconds, he speaks.

"Ach, I'm fine. Are you alright?"
"Huh? I mean...er...yeah, my throat is a bit sore."
"Welp better that then dead. Hows my hat?"
"...Fine?"

Now what?

"So, why was the village on fire?"

"So why was the village on fire?"

She runs a hand through her hair.

"Well...this may sound...strange...but a great demon of the sea attacked our village the morning of the day you arrived...It destroyed several houses and,"

She pauses and Bael notice her eyes getting watery. She sniffs.

"...Killed a dozen or so people. My brother- the man you got out -is organizing a hunt for it. But I don't think he'll find it, and if he does, he's too weak from the smoke and the broken arm to fight it...My mother and father are organizing defenses, we're worried its going to come back. But it hasn't come for a few days...so maybe it's gone now. Well, enough of that, what's your name? Mine's Emaral. "

Now what?

(We did it, it was us.)

"Uh, my name is B... Bane. Say, I think I may have seen that sea-demon; it attacked my boat and left me to die. Luckily the old girl managed to get me to shore, but, well, she won't be sailing anyplace anytime soon. Could you describe the demon- make sure it was the same thing that attacked my boat?"

He's not sure why he lied. Just... best to remain a mystery, at least for now, he thinks.

((Thats a brilliant idea and I wish I had thought of it! Heheheheh.  Bael now speaks in Teal.))

"Uh, my name is B... Bane. Say, I think I may have seen that sea-demon; it attacked my boat and left me to die. "Nice to meet you Bane. But no, I didn't see it, I was sleeping in when it arrived. I'm sure some of the...others saw it. Do you want to get one for you or something?"

"No, no. I've been enough of a hassle to you good people already. I should really get go-aagh"

Bael tries to get up. His injuries disagree.

"You know, maybe I will stick around a little longer. Who's bed is this? I should thank them for their hospitality."

[filiusenox]

"No, no. I've been enough of a hassle to you good people already. I should really get go-aagh"

Bael makes to get up, feeling sore but obviously not in pain, but he is pushed back down hard by Emaral. She keeps her hands on his chest a moment longer then necessary.

"You probably shouldn't be walking, you probably couldn't stand with all the Verin we've had to feed you."

"You know, maybe I will stick around a little longer. Who's bed is this? I should thank them for their hospitality."

"That would be my bed, Bane. And yes you should."
The voice sends shivers down Bael's spine, he knows that voice, but can't quite place where he heard it before. The voice carries an edge of power, and grace, and is strangely soothing at the same time.
A woman, much like Emaral except taller and better built, steps into his view.

"Your in my...study? Yes, lets call it that. Welcome to Sandkeep Village, traveler. Sorry for the state of it, at this time. We‘ve had an unfortunate incident with a Demon attacking and all."

“Oh, hey mom.”

Bael shuffles nervously. Does he have a reason to be nervous? He doesn't think so. Still.

"Ah, good... morning?, milady. My sincere thanks for letting me recover from my injuries in your "...study". I assure you that as soon as I can walk I will be of no further trouble to you, and you shall not see me again. But whilst I am here, could you perhaps tell me of the demon that attacked your village?- I fear it may have attacked my boat as well."

Don't look guilty don't look guilty don't look guilty.

Bael shuffles nervously. Does he have a reason to be nervous? He doesn't think so. Still.

I assure you that as soon as I can walk I will be of no further trouble to you, and you shall not see me again. But whilst I am here, could you perhaps tell me of the demon that attacked your village?- I fear it may have attacked my boat as well."

+1. I bet you'll look guilty, but they'll pass it off as you being injured, but you'll know. You'll know.

Bael fidgets in his bed. Both women notice it, Emaral passes it off as discomfort caused by soreness. But the older women's nostrils flare ever so slightly and then her eyes narrow. Emaral doesn't notice this, but Bael does.

"I was out gathering herbs, or else the demon would be a corpse rotting by the shore. My husband saw it, but he was batted away when he tried to fight it."

Her voice has conviction, suspicion, and arrogance mixed in equal amounts.

"Say, Emma, can you go and get me some Flameweed? I missed some burns on our guest here. Thank you sweetie."

Emaral leaves, giving Bael a smile over her shoulder. The other woman looks at him with open suspicion. She brings her fingers up to her face and makes to snap them.

"So, what do you know...?"

[NUKE9.13]

"...I know nothing. I suspect the worst."

What does he know?

"On the table. My things. I think you will find a necklace. I can't remember what it means. But-"

He knows he did it. Well, he doesn't know. But he suspects.

"I can't remember, honest. But if... if this is... my fault, somehow..."

He can't think of what to say next.

Welp, since this is somewhat important, i'll have to leave it open a bit longer.

[The Fool]

"...I know nothing. I suspect the worst."

What does he know?

Are we painting him to be a demon? The least we can do is some kind of path to redemption. I'll go with this, but I would like to know where everyone wants to go with this.
