I've never even touched adventure mode, so it'll still be fortress mode for me.  At least for a while.

I think this will be a perfect opportunity to check out adventure mode though.

Adventure mode. I like fortress mode more, but there's just so much to see I'll spend the first weeks adventuring.

Believe me it will :D

Ever since I read about patch notes I can't even play the game.

Fortress mode. While I like to play an adventurer every once in a blue moon, it gets boring for me pretty fast. Even if I don't get eaten by bogeymen three seconds into the game.

That being said, I'm curious as to what exactly did Toady mean when he mentioned expanding the xml dumps not too long ago. Sounds like the obvious thing, that the dumps will contain more information (useful for the Legends Viewer and the like), but I can't help but wonder if the legends mode will also get some completely new data. Well, aside from the vampire/werebadger/false identity shenanigans, because that's more or less a given.

Adventure mode, obviously. Nothing that exciting for Fortress Mode, but some of it does make me want to play FM more than I usually do. Cage a werewolf, 'breed' it with captives and nobles and such, make a werewolf arena that invaders must fight through to get to my fort. Seems good.

Fortress mode for me.

I’ve only dabbled a bit with adventure mode by taking control of a creature in the object testing arena.  Adventure mode doesn’t have much in the way of goals and that puts me off.  Just running around a sparse world killing random creatures never drew me in but the coming changes to Adventure mode will hopefully help change that.

Adventure mode for me.
I normally play FM mostly, but the incoming features for ADV mode look more FUN/fun than those for FM.
But there's a problem...
i normally create and advanced world where i remove night creatures (bogeymans you know)
Will there still be vampires and all the new features?
If the Toady One add a separated button for bogeymans then... He's the best dev ever! I'm gonna dwarf-kiss him! (Dwarf-kiss being a drunken kiss at a random part of the face but the lips, the kisser lacking accuracy to aim correctly)

I've been waiting for adventure mode to get some more direction for a long time and am going to be playing that mode first.

It's likely that I'll spend more time messing with the new tokens and things than playing. I'll have to make my own personal mod compatible and expand it where new things are possible.

Modding!

But aside from that, Adventure Mode probably has the edge.  I'm definitely looking forward to having retired adventurers immigrate to my fortress, either way.

Vampires and were are cool, random materials are too. I do not know if you can breach catacombs in fm. Even if you can, I'm a bit disappointed that AM get nearly all the new features. When I realised that, since I do not play AM much, it kinda toned down my excitement about the release.

Exactly. I hate dealing with the them.

Fortress mod - in a location with a lot of adventurer loot left behind. I spent a lot of time in the current version looking for caves, camps, or shrines by suitable sites and I'm too picky about location most of the time.

Really looking forward to having retired adventurers coming to the fort too.

Really looking forward to start playing in Fortress Mode then switch over to Adventure mode a bit later.
Does anyone know if World events and history will be updated once you abandon an fort now?
