Highpeak succession fort- Game thread
« on: February 02, 2012, 07:54:37 am »

Well, I'd like to start a succession fort, anyone else interested? As of yet, I have not decided on an embark location, nor a name, so at the moment it's pretty open. I'm pretty sure that what we'll end up doing is having each person play the fort for one week real-time or one year game time, whichever comes first.
So anyone keen?

I'd like to play.

I'd enjoy seeing this set in a good biome, since that never seems to happen.

Totally keen man.

Yeah good biome sounds nice. Make it a desert or glacier or something, don't want anything too easy now, might miss some of the fun.

Dwarves are aggressively neutral, so Good + Savage biomes are nearly as dangerous as Evil + Savage biomes.

I want a piece of this action, provided you don't mind a well-organized and rational ruler who tries to get things done in the most efficient manner possible and deals with threats by SEALING OFF the fort from the outside world with one triple-sealable entrance, so that all the dragons and Bronze Colossi in the world can't breach the walls.

In other words, a turn for me is a turn towards sanity. ^^

Well, I found an embark location that is a Joyous Wild Temperate Forest next to a Terrifying Mountain with a river. Will post a picture later. How does that sound as a location?

Pix before final decision, but initial impression is 'interesting' bordering on 'HELL YES.' If you included a volcano in the offing it would be 'HELL YES!' instead of just 'HELL YES.'

The former (!) is a jump-up-in-the-air shout for joy. The latter (.) is a restrained fistpump.

Whelp, this is the place that I found.

Terrifying mountains border Untamed Badlands upon Joyous wilds, with a brook trickling through the black heart of the peaks above. Should be interesting, at least.

Never played a succession game before.  I'd like to give it a try, if that's ok.

I *might* take a turn later. I've got a busy month though, so I'll only put my name down when I know I can do it. I'm not the best overseer by any means...I've only really just started to get the hang of a few industries. But once I've killed a few (dozen) more of my own forts....I should be ready to give this a try. :)

Although that embark looks NICE. I imagine it'll be mostly on fire soon though.

Sounds like there's enough people to start, so I'll begin my turn and then make the game thread.
Also, I think I've decided on the name 'Highpeak'.
