Dwarves won't dump dead caravan items.

So, I accidentally forgot to lower the bridge leading to my fort's exit for a caravan, and they went insane and died. They left behind a lot of things that I don't need and don't want cluttering my fortress. I designated these items to be dumped and the dwarves ignored them, despite the presense of a garbage dump in my dwarven atom smasher. This has proven to be frustrating. Does anyone know how to get my dwarves to dump these things?

Nevermind. I figured out that I had to set the order so that dwarves gather refuse from outside.
