Author Looking For Illustrator
« on: March 08, 2012, 08:24:15 pm »

Hello all, i'm a young and aspiring author who is beginning to work on a book inspired by our very own DF. Its beginning to look from my story board that one totally consecutive story is impossible with all the ideas i had, and that hardly fits into the feel of DF anyways. Like my fortresses, my stories wont be incredibly lengthy. But there will be a lot of them and some may turn out to be upwards of 50 pages, so its not to bad. The thing is, with a game as beautiful as this (in a beautiful ASCII way), i would like to include some images and pictures. So is there anyone out there who would be interested in doing a few battle scenes or some typical dwarfy fantasy pictures? [/glow]

Well, for starters, I'd like to recommend turning off the <glow> effect, because it makes at least me and perhaps other people's eyes dizzy. @_@

What kind of illustrations are you looking for? ASCII? Regular?

Regular. Drawings really. Nothing computer generated or intense, id like to stick with the general quirky feel of the DF community and the game and i think computer generated images wouldnt do that. Like it wouldn't transfer right into a book form for ASC is what i mean.

Instead of just outright asking for illustrators with a general Looking For title, make it like 'this and this scene wants an illustration'. That would be much more likely to draw people to ... um, draw. Just a general topic and a general OP isn't much of a incentive.

((Minor thing - may just be me, but your second sentence isn't comprehending ... >.>))

I could make something for you in MS paint! $40/hr, minimum.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

I actually DO draw in MS Paint.  It's simple and quirky.  Here's a link to the DF comics I've done (this is part 6, and there are links there for the other 5 parts).  Not sure exactly what style you're looking for, but check'em out!

The troll-face avatar and $40/hr may throw some people off. :)

I suggest you give us an example of your writing, would probably get more attention from the (few) artists on this forum if it intrigued them.
