Elf Immortality Genesis (?)
« on: January 26, 2012, 08:21:30 pm »

I'm thinking about modifying some of the dwarven raws so they survive better in world gen.
I'm using the latest genesis mod, all civilizations included etc.

If someone could give me some ideas and lines of code to add I'd appreciate it.
I was thinking about giving Dwarves immortality aswell, like elves have. Is this possible? If so, how?

Thanks for answering questions from a noob experimenting with world gen ;D

Immortality (I assume you mean the "not dying of old age" flavor, as that's the one elves have) is what happens when a creature lacks the MAXAGE token. MAXAGE normally tells the game when the creature can start dying of old age - the first number is how old they have to be in years to be eligible to die, and the second is the oldest they can possibly live to.

Removing the MAXAGE token under [CREATURE:DWARF] (which, in Genesis, I believe is in creature_civilized.txt or something similar) will make dwarves immortal. If I remember correctly, some Genesis castes of dwarves have different maximum ages than others, so make sure you remove all of the MAXAGE tokens if you want every caste to be immortal. Ctrl-F should come in handy.

"Adding" is the wrong term here.
What you do is REMOVE the maxage tag.

Note that it's a valid caste-level tag, so you can have jade dwarves still die off but steel dwarves not, or stuff like that.

Thanks guys. Any other cool tips for smexy dwarves?

EDIT; Wait; Keepers have shorter lives than dwarves. Why do they populate faster? D:
Also; Immortal Dwarves makes no difference in world gen apparently.

Dwarves are generally smaller than humans.

I don't know anything about Genesis, but you could check the CHILD age tag to see when they grow up.  The faster a creature grows up, the faster it can start breeding, so they might just grow up faster than dwarves.
