Dwarf Skill Selector
« on: January 20, 2012, 01:06:22 pm »

Hi all,

I've created a web page to help pick skills that a particular dwarf might excel at for those of you whose brain goes a little fuzzy trying to do figure out how to assign skills for the embark. Please let me know what you think, and I hope it's useful to some of you!

Brilliant!

I have never paid much attention to my dwarves when assigning them jobs however (except for skills). This might make me OCD even more over my fortress. A small, very small, part of me hates you for making this site, the other part loves you.

Thanks for this tool.

I input a hypothetical worst-at-everything dwarf and was disappointed that "useless noble" didn't come up.

Thanks everyone.  I'd like to implement something that lets you set up the attributes for all of your dorfs and then gives you a matrix that you can use to select skills for each one all at once to make sure you've covered all your bases.  First though I think I'll add a filter that lets you only looks at skills you're interested in.

Try again  ;)

By the Gods... Putting the stats at max says that the top two matches...

Are animal trainer...

...And Druid.

Elves.

FYI, The script has been updated to allow you to filter out skills that you may not care about.

If anyone has a background image or is interested in prettying the html up a bit I'd love to hear about it.

Ouch.  That's probably a bug. It might help if I had some suggestions for what it's supposed to say there...

I really REALLY don't want to... but this just begs for it:
I'll make a fort where every dwarf can only be assigned skills that he will excel at.

Also, this should be integrated into Dwarf Therapist.

Edit: Update: First Road Block: my first dwarf on the list has all negative or average attributes... what do I do? Suggestions? Hauling duty? Pump operator until useful less useless?
