Uhm...is this a bug? [Mule holding stuff from fort in ad

Despite being a modded game I don't think this would be effected by the custom race/civ. (Mebbe it is, but that is what convinced me to put it on this board. Ignore me if that is the case.)

I spent some time in a dwarf fortress, trading with the resident "human" race, Everyone eventually went nuts from me running out of food and I abandoned the fortress.
Then I start in the civ that did trading with them and I come across some oddities.  First thing that happened was in one town when I entered came up with a message stating that a wagon had been scuttled.  I return to the town later and find various kinds of leather scattered around the town.  Then I go die.  I start another character (same civ, different town) And I find a mule standing around hauling various items I recognize as stuff I traded from the fort.

Is this just something that isn't fully implemented and I'm just being paranoid? I'm actually surprised that the stuff from the fort actually managed to end up there at all but I'm kinda worried if this is something Toady didn't intend to happen quite yet.

Edit:Update, I killed the mule in greed to grab the stuff to hawk it in the nearest shop and I got attacked by a merchant...nobody seems to care that I killed him and everyone is acting normally...weird...

Yeah, I've seen this before. The merchant attacked you because it was his caravan. If he had guards, they would attack you too. It's not really a bug, just a not fully implented feature.

Oh, ok then. That's what I thought it may be but I wasn't 100% sure. Never really know how this stuff works sometimes.  The mule somehow got a sorta nullish name too after checking the legends screen, but I'm pretty sure I saw something about that somewhere. Who knows, mebbe that narrowed down what causes that little unnamed animals appearing in legends screen bug.

If I really over think it I may actually be useful instead of annoying like I usually am.  :D
