Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

Done.  They were used for military training.

I could probably dump a male into a 1 z-level deep 1x1 pit that's sealed off from the rest of the fort.  Badgers can't fly and spores should still work that way.

That is an insane and dangerous plan.  I approve wholeheartedly.

The fort has died since i ran out of seeds and fishing the caverns ran out of fish, the dwarfs starved to death. Took them 2 years 5 months and 7 days to die on their own, not by badgers. Well time to start again. Thread can stay for obvious, badger related reasons. thank you for your help.

Take an ambusher, on the next embark.

Then make him butcher, and double dissector(for what its worth, I don't think this does anything).  But not Tanner.  He'll waste all your time in there skinning hides and not ambushing.  Instead, make another dwarf the tanner.  Then setup an ammo pile next to the butcher workstation, so he can reload between kills and butchers.  He'll clean house, and you'll be rich in meat.  Just make sure he's not compassionate.  One ambusher will snipe any threats that get close to the fortress aslong as he has ammo, start with wood ammo, til you decide to shift that hunter to become a marksdwarf.

Sounds like you embarked in a savage neutral spot.  It happens.  Maybe you'll get better luck in your next region.

Take care, Knutor

My legendary marksdwarf/hunter has 15 badger kills, not to mention 25 other kills, including a goblin thief. He now heads a marksdwarf squad. I also use badgers for arena practice after they waltz across my bridge filled with cage traps. They like to attack my woodcutters, but the only badger-related casualty was on Take-your-baby-to-work day. Urist McBaby bravely defended his mommy. (I think his name was actually Urist Something.)
