PSP screen is busted. Needing some kind of substitute.
« on: January 12, 2012, 10:18:28 am »

So, my psp screen is fragmenting, to the point that I can't see anything coherent. Repairs are too expensive over here, so that isn't an option for me (until I can build up a large budget, but that will take very, very long.).

Is there a way to use my monitor as a, for lack of a better word, screen substitute for my half-broken PSP?

If you don't mind using a TV as a screen you can hook it up using a cable. It's the standard red, white and yellow and it connects to your PSP. I have one, but it's been so long since I've used it.

Otherwise you can use system connect with a PS3 and use the TV like that. USB connection should be far left at the top in the menu if you want to try that.

Yeah, you can do either option for hooking up a PSP. I've used both of them. The RWY cable's are pretty cheap if you look around for 'em, I know that mine was under five bucks.

Make sure you get the right cables. The one I bought didn't worked (except audio) as soon as I started a game.

If your truly interested in ghetto repairs.

pop out the broken screen, check the connections on it.
find a similar broken device with an intact screen and pop that out.
check compatibility.
if yes, use it, if no, start from 2.

honestly, you wouldn't believe how some of my electronics look  ;D
