Okay! Here goes!
-----------------
This is Skyrunner here! I (again with my insatiable desire for things to do) want to create a TRPG campaign. In fact, I have wanted to make one for some while, but in real life, situations have not matched well. I chose the GURPS way because it is (1) more simpler than DnD (2) I actually read quite a lot of it. Because this is my very first time at GMing TRPG, I want whomever decides to take place in this to understand that the voyage may be rocky, rough and otherwise not the optimal experience.
...In fact, I admit that I also never have used maptools before. Another hurdle to jump!
If you have much experience in GURPS and/or Maptools, do not hesitate to point out efficient ways to do things, rules I have overlooked, and cool features I don't know of!
You are a member of the small group the enigmatic Overgne has collected to ... save to world. According to her, there is a 'rift' in the world - and through that rift, the magic of the world is flowing out. Once the magic exits the rift, it is nigh impossible to retrieve. To seal said rift, she has ordered (and paid) her group to retrieve four crystals and one pendant. Like many an adventure has started, your's too also starts in a tavern. The first quest issued to your small group is to dive into the nearby dungeon of Asther and cleanse it of evil beings. Mostly, it is an opportunity to gain experience and be better equipped to take on the harder, more crucial missions. You and your group are somewhat acquaintanced with each other.
What? - A classic RP, involving dungeons, quests, monsters, friends, enemies, and the occasional explosion. Plenty of door-kicking inside! Set in the generic age of fantasy, between TL 3(Medieval) and TL 4(Age of Sail), there is magic aplenty in this cinematic RP. You and your fellow players are all one party. Your party is part of Overgne's organization. You get paid.
Who? - I am GMing this game. It is a first for me in many ways: first time GMing a TRPG, first time using Maptools, and ... no third reason. Damn you, rule of three! I will happily accept any help for running the game, may it be pointing out errors, helping with balance, or troubleshooting Maptools.
When? - Sessions will be called according to consensus. I forsee it being on Friday and Saturday most of the time: most people work/go to school on other days!
How? - Say you are in. Create a character sheet. You do not have to be present at every single session, but it will be better if you attend all sessions of a single quest. Summaries of each session are planned to be posted here.
Specifics? - 200 Character points, and up to -100 in disadvantages! There may be 5 quirks. The technology level is either 3 or 4. Should you choose 3, take a "Low TL" disadvantage. Should you choose 4, take a "High TL" advantage. I will be using GURPS:Basic and GURPS:Magic. Also, GURPS:Low-Tech may be used for equipment tables.
Homebrew? - I would like it if something similar to DnD's magic system was implemented: suffixes like "Enhanced", "Quickened", "Maximized" and such. But because I don't know the GURPS system very well, I would like it if anyone could advise me on this.
TL;DR? - Yay yay RPG yay!!!1!! [redacted]. Yay!
EDIT: It seems the very first hurdle is actually getting Maptools to host correctly,..
EDIT2: Hopefully, maptools is now working.
