33b - the Mayor vs the Economy
« on: November 17, 2007, 06:14:00 pm »

Administrative dwarves - specifically the Mayor and Sheriff - and the economy seem incompatible in 33b.

Specifically, the dwarves filling these positions cannot be assigned a room, and they do not earn enough (at least in my fort) to buy a room of the quality level their job requires. Other administrators can be assigned a room (are exempted from the econ) so this seems to be an oversite/bug.

How did you start the economy?

Which doesn't answer your question directly. My first immigration following patching brought the Baron, as well as a Hammerer and a Tax Collector. The Baron is my best guess as to the trigger.

I was at 89 dwarves and 1.5mm fort value before the immigration.

I also got a Baronness/Consort/Hammerer/Tax Collector in the first spring wave of immigrants after the patch. I'd attributed it to smelting tons and tons of gold bars, but come to think of it the patch explanation does make more sense. No coins, ~760000 created wealth, ~310000 import/~35000 export, 135 immigrants.

(The real question is can I turn off the economy after the fact by modifying the init file, or am I screwed? I have way too many idlers with stupid skills like cheese making for the economy to go well!)

I have the same bug.
Version 33d.
Mayor is unhappy about requirements, i was unable to assign her back to previous room after *eviction in progress* message.
She has slept in the mud recently.
She has also completed diplomatic and trade negotiations lately and completed a trade with the humans that if she had earned 2% of would buy her the nicest room in the fort.
Seems a little unfair :-p

This should be fixed in 33e.
