Found Dragon Egg, What Do?

So I just completed a quest from a Law-Giver to slay a dragon but found a dragon egg in its lair. I'm not sure what to do with it so if anyone can tell me what it's for it would be a real help.

PS: I'm going to carry it around with my for the time being.

Doesn't matter any more, my companions mysteriously vanished and a boogeyman 1 shot me at the very start of the fight with a lucky punch to the head. Fuck it.

Unfortunately SINCE YOU ARE AN EVIL MURDEROUS VILLAIN the dragon will never hatch. That dragon probably would've been a doctor, or burnt down elf retreats. You monster.

Can't break eggs in dwarf fortress, eggs don't hatch without a nestbox and parent, even if the egg hatched the baby would probably kill you due to the lack of a way to tame animals.

Dragon eggs are essentially flavorful rocks.
