Wups, been visiting some old classics. Never knew Ramza could punch out Wiegraf in one go.
Anyways...
-Spring 133-
Once again, the great army of effectively everyone waited outside the walls of the fortress, stopped by the wooden bridge.
And then goblins came along, detected by no doubt one of our very observant watchanimals before they could move far from the edge of the territory.
For those not familiar with the mod:
i = hellfire imp. They can breath fire and deal massive FPS damage. And nature, can't forget nature.
But then the imps showed up and prompted roasted the goblins to death. Apparently the two evil small folk dislike each other, or something.
Later in the season the same thing happened, except the goblins were badass enough to stand and shoot at the imps before burning to death. The imps took a few shots and left, wimps. Firebreathing wimps.
Let's see... Here's some layouts of the fortress; above ground not included as the surveyors were scared off by a rogue Nightwing who killed off a dog before leaving.
(bastard.)Extreme left: Haxforges
Somewhat left: Workshops
Middle: Entrance/cleaning pool
Right (top down, left to right): Meeting hall, Dining room, Hospital, Dormitory
Really right: entrance to housing (ramp) and underground pasture (not ramp)
Interestingly enough the Haxforges double the travel time between forge and food/bed. It takes around 80 steps to go from dining to magma pipe and 140 to go from dining to haxforge.
One level below that
left: stockpiles
middle (top down) well support, offices, food stockpile
right: housing
One level below that, last level of the fort that's important
left bottom: recycling plant (all dead stuff is brought into the corpse pile where the "t" is, and then it's processed and turned into ammo, food, etc.
Also the brewery, kitchen, foodstuffs.
right: The houses proper.
Apart from a child making an amulet nothing impressive happened. I had originally wanted him to take after his father and become a blacksmith, since there's a massive backlog of armor orders and I want everydwarf to be armed for the Bridge Replacement Day, but then he mooded and there was no more chance of getting an artifact shoe from him
. That torch'll be passed onto his brother when he grows some.
I'll do something more...consequential when something interesting happens. My playstyle is dull.
