Still got another 6 hours until New Years here, and most of my friends don't want to do anything, or have other plans. I'm trying to decide whether I should go to a party with some friends-of-my-friends, or find something else to do. I only really know two people there, and the rest are strangers or acquaintances I've only met a handful of times... though all are generally cool, rather enlightened university people.
In truth, I really enjoy talking with and hanging out with them, but I can't help but feel a bit intimidated; most of them are my age, and graduates of one of the best schools in my area. They're all off doing neat things abroad or working professionally, and when the time comes to discuss what I'm doing with my life, between my minimum-wage jobs and the creeping pace of my education, I feel pretty crappy.
There's also a slight bit of awkwardness, as the friend hosting is one whom I should've known better than to ask out once upon a time. I'm really happy to hear that she recently got married, and she picked a guy who seems great for her, though the whole thing has served to refresh that old bit of embarrassment as well.
One way or the other, Happy New Year B12!
Sorry, but we appear to have multiple New Years threads.
Anyway, lacking means to find out where the above-mentioned shindig is at, and no other available friends, I anticipate I'll be home alone for the evening.
As such, if folks would like, I'm totally down with ringing in the new year with a
2012 Livestream Aztextravaganza! Provided I can get these subs to work, we can watch "Mysterious Cities of Gold", a 1980s classic French/Japanese anime set in the Spanish colonies of Mesoamerica during the Colonial Era. It actually sounds pretty cool! If all else fails, there's also Part 2 of "The Hogfather", and some other fun things we could do. If you're home tonight, feel free to hop on in!
