Knowing toady they probably BOTH tie in. It's just a shame ettins, giants and the like don't carry around giant sized weapons.

I'd love to be an enormous sword master carry around a giant's dagger.

A single blade carved of elephant ivory?

Strength -does- affect those things, both directly and indirectly. A creature's size is also directly proportionate to how muscular and fat it is. Combined with thicker tissue layers providing more protection, this means that obese yet incredibly muscular dwarves are ideal for the military, since as of yet corpulence has no negative downsides.
