Let me tell you a story, ~4 years ago there was one of the most fun multiplayer games ever called Dinglepop, it was a pretty simple bubble breaking game. By matching colours or lines or something on your part of the screen meant you could spawn bubbles or random bad effects on the other players area and it was so so much fun. Then zynga(sp?) bought out the parent company(omgpop) and for some reason cut almost all of their catalogue from play. Me and my friends played this a lot against each other and was sadneded that they removed it.

So my question is, as i cannot find anything that scratches my dinglepop itch can you recommend any games like this, preferably free as my friends atm are all in college/uni and have little to no money.

In fact it doesn't have to hindred the other player, just any fun multiplayer free games, web or otherwise i've tried most common ones like Town of Salem/Hedgewars but maybe a few i missed.

Many thanks in advance,

I think the game is pretty dead at this point. But puzzle pirates might be a suggestion. It's a mmorpg where you go sailing around on ships, each crew member doing various tasks like loading the cannons and making sure the sails are full of wind and such. It has a number of competitive games as well, which sound like your bubble game in that they are simple puzzles that when you do good you fuck over your opponent, so that's why the thought of puzzle pirates entered my mind.

It's 'free to play' on steam, although I have no idea how viable it is to be a free to play player. There's a premium currency that you use to buy badges to give you limited access to the various parts of the game (although I think just basic sailing around on other peoples or npc ships is free), but I have no idea what the economy is like, if you can afford to run your own ship as a free to play player or something... It's like... Decently okay? If you like simple puzzle games it's pretty good I think.

Pretty sure Transformice is still running, if you haven't touched it yet. Pretty simple in concept, everyone's a mouse, one person is a mouse shaman that can summon up objects, the goal is to get the cheese and then (sometimes, iirc) get out. The catch being there's a number of levels where the mouse collision isn't turned off, even more where even though it is, there's various objects in world to physics up and screw everyone over with, and the shaman is almost always there ready and able to ruin a great many mouse's day. It's pretty fun, ehehe.

Ultimate Chicken Horse.

Quote from: Game Description
Ultimate Chicken Horse is a party platformer where you and your friends build the level as you play, placing deadly traps before trying to reach the end of the level. If you can make it but your friends can't, you get a point! Play online or locally with your animal buddies and experiment with a wide variety of platforms in all sorts of strange locations to find new ways to mess with your friends.

Tried that mice thing, i dunno if i just got unlucky but the shamans i had were just trying to screw everyone, got boring very quickly ;p

UCH looks like a lot of fun, sadly costs money ;p i'll keep an eye on it for steam sale tho cheers.

Puzzle Pirates will stick on my list.

Thanks all.

Dinglepop looks like a Puzzle Bobble/Bust-a-Move kind of thing; you might want to try Rumbling in Puzzle Pirates, which is generally based on the same mechanic.

You might want to look into TetriNet (enhanced online multiplayer Tetris) or Twinkle Star Sprites (competitive bullet hell shooter... which doesn't do it justice. Not sure if there's an easy way to play on computer though).

Ah whoops, missed the free part, though Magicka fits the bill for a co-op where you will hinder your allies in some form at some point.
