I never got a meeting with the human liaison, but I basically forgot about the issue because of a mandrill attack that confused my mechanic into getting roasted by an imp, next to an open fire.

Then I noticed a bit of a smell in the dining room.  It seems there's a corpse and a bunch of large clothing in a wet channel there (next door, I'm going through the aquifer; the channel is to avoid a flood).  My broker / expedition leader is a miner.  And I don't remember that channel having been finished yet.  So, my theory is that my miner happily channeled under the human liaison.  This seems buggy.  As in, swarms of flies.
