Melbilam - The bastion
« on: December 21, 2011, 06:48:54 pm »

Greetings all.
Let me set the scene for you. 3 Months ago, the world was rocked by a cataclysm of unmeasurable tragedy. People where going about their regular lives when, without warning, the ground collapsed from under their feet. Entire civilisation fell into the deep, never heard from again. Only three places remained habitable: A human hamlet, sitting atop a spire of rock and dirt, and the dwarven Mountainhome, the mountain it was dug into survived the collapse.

But what of the third? Far to the east of this cursed realm, a spire jutted from the darkness. It was once a plateau whose name is long forgotten. Both remaining civilisation where dying. The humans had no hope. But the dwarves would fight the inevitable end. They planned a way to reach the bastion. But they could only send seven dwarfs, a caravan and limited supplies. The seven dwarfs where chosen. 3 males and 4 females, along with several domesticated animals, a small amount of food and basic tools. They would be the only hope for the dwarfs to continue living. Building of the cannon commenced, dwarven engineering gave them at least a 40% chance of reaching their destination unscathed. Finally, the day came the selected seven piled into the wagon, saying a teary goodbye to the remaining members of their family. The pod was launched and for 10 whole minutes, they waited, being jostled about in the wagon. The wagon was supposed to land exactly on the edge, and would slide along the ground to slow down.

The wagon landed with a spectacular crash, but held together and came to a stop 3 metres before falling off the other side. The dwarfs dismounted and began to survey their new home.

Part 2.

The dwarfs climbed from their wagon. Dazed they stumbled about, regaining their senses. Fabian Chaoslord, The appointed one-man-army, Had already taken note, To the west of the spire, a cluster of trees sat. In the center of the spire, a small but but incredibly deep pond sat. The water was cool and crisp and pure. The expedition consisted of Fabian, the only thing standing between them and death by forgotten beast. His family was known across the world for their god-like abilities in combat. Ingish Erithked, A woodcutter and carpenter, he could fell a tree in one strike. Vabo Kobelavuz one of the miners brought along, he was legendary with a pick, and better with an anvil and hammer. Adil Keskalavz the other miner, not as good as Vabo, but he was the best mason known to the world. As Thadrigth was the expeditionary leader, He was in charge of organising the fortress, down to all details. Id Vabokingiz and Cerol Sazirrmm were the attatched farmers and doctors.

As and Fabian began to organise longterm plans, whilst the others went about their assigned duties, a small farm and dining area was constructed along with several workshops, and seven private bedrooms. A makeshift medical bay was built, and acorns were spread about the island.

I hear a piranha is good eating.  I have a spear; I'll be fine!
The Pilot and their cargo handlers paused when they saw that the entire camp is covered in eldritch runes coated in blood. And rotting monkey corpses everywhere..

They decide that they didn't get paid enough for this..
