Boredom
« on: December 11, 2011, 04:43:34 pm »

I've played DF for a while now, from the point where I didn't even know how to dig stuff, to the point where I was making a successful fort covered with masterful engravings. Nowadays, I'm just not motivated.

Just about the only reason I come to these forums is the community. I never really discuss whats going on in my games, because I'm not playing them.

I'd like to get back into DF. Got any suggestions besides mods?

Ok. I'm embarking with a Survivor Dwarf build.

With 100 cavies.

I don't know why.

EDIT: Oh god. This will quickly descend into madness. It is named Romanticink.

ya know, sometimes you just got to let it rest for a while.

Since I mostly play it for the simulation (DF = high functioning, violent and productive mental asylum) I rarely seek thrills or set goals.

Seems that you're more versed in the dwarfing. I would suggest you do !!Science!!.

I say just wait for the next version to come out. There really isn't all that much fun left to be had in the current state of DF, what with so many aspects of the game broken.

Try joining a succession fort?
Also, this. You get to experience the more exciting parts of Dwarf Mode without nearly as much of time investment.

Ah, yes, I thought something was amiss. Now I see. There's not enough terrible things in the lakes.

what I usually do when I feel like everything essential is done is hit up  dwarfs and take a close look on their screens and Imagen what they would want or what kind of project they would come up with. Play with the resources at hand, Artefacts did inspire me to build a great many shrines or if you are more military minded brush up your defence works so that lone walls become multiple tiles wide and high covered by huge towers with perfect laid out fields of fire to make your stout bastion unbreakable!

It's amazing what one can do and the game will continually throw fun and !!!FUN!!! at you  just to stop you from finishing that underground Marsfield your bored Militia commander asked for :D
