And the mangled of leg shall walk . . .
« on: September 05, 2006, 05:24:00 pm »

My poor foolhardy recruit tangled with an elephant.  The elephant is fine.  My recruit was not.  I unrecruited him, and he was carried to his room, to languish with a broken arm, broken leg, injured spleen, and mangled other leg.  Seasons passed.  Spring came, then summer.  And my miner hit the cave river.  It flooded; all the dwarves ran outside.  Including Rigoth.  Pretty quicky for a dwarf who should be dragging himself along by his fingertips.

He got most of the way out before the flood receded, and then he was carried back to bed and insisted on being brought breakfast and beer.

Could be worse. I recently had a dwarf laid up for two years with a broken hand. Apparently a twisted pinky completely crippled him.

To add insult to injury he got the wound by losing a fight with a racoon. Luckily the last version update seemed to help the healing rate alot.

Do you remember if the damaged dwarf had a brown background when it was running?  They should move about three times slower when they are on the ground.

I have no idea.  He was a bit slower maybe, but then he might have been agile, and that could have helped.  It's very possible that he was moving at an appropriate speed for a stealthy, agile, wounded dwarf, which still seemed remarkable considering *how* he was injured.

Can you reopen wounds by moving before they're healed?  Seems like walking around on a mangled leg should cause more than pain; perhaps bleeding?

HE he he, right now it doesn't aggravate them.  Once I start infecting and diseasing them, that might be more appropriate.  Right now you'd be able to survive on the maggots you pick out of your wounds though, which really doesn't make much sense.
