Stone availablitity for Embark
« on: December 10, 2011, 01:42:11 pm »

So I notice that the selection of stones you can take with you switches up from embark to embark; sometimes I can bring some malachite, sometimes nope.  Sometimes theres a looong list of ores, sometimes its rather very short.   The big question is (here comes the !science! part), does this selection reflect the actual materials found at the embark site, or is it just totally random?  Anybody look into this one yet?

It depends on the stone/minerals available to the civilization your dwarves come from. If they've never discovered iron ores, you're not going to have access to iron equipment, and will have to shell out for expensive imported steel instead.

when selecting a site for embark, you can use TAB to go to various screens, like elevation or cliffs (dont remember what the name was.. height diference). One of those screens will allow you to select your starting civ with - +
