Couple'o'questions
« on: December 09, 2011, 04:22:54 pm »

Just wondering if anyone could help here

There is a Wagon outside my fortress entrance getting in the way from a previous embark where i forgot to 'prepare carefully' and immediately abandoned, its very much in the way but my carpenters ignore it despite setting it to be removed. Is this a bug?

Secondly, my dwarves are refusing to haul some leather and cloth bins from the trade deport to a pile that i have set to store leather and cloth. Anyone have any ideas why that might be?

Many thanks in advance

I think items that belong to dead dwarves (the members of the last embark) are automatically forbidden.

Aside from that, I've always had trouble with re-embarking and no one wanting to use anything.

Imagine you're driving a car. Push the gas pedal to the floor. Close your eyes. Remain this way for ten minutes while turning the wheel at whim. This is Dwarf Fortress.
I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

Possibly. Use the mass reclaim tool (d) (b) (c) and unforbid the entire wagon, cancel the deconstruct, then order it do be deconstructed again.

Make sure your stockpile is set to have bins in it. I've noticed dwarves being reluctant to the point of intractability about taking things out of bins to put them in no-bin stockpiles.
