Trap drainage
« on: December 06, 2011, 04:30:46 pm »

I am currently setting up a magma trap that should melt any enemies foolish enough to invade and send any foe foolish enough to be lava immune off a 10 z-level drop. However the pit will need to be emptied after each use and I'm not sure how to go about it, specifically where to put the magma. It is going to empty into the first layer of the caverns but I worry that might be laggy. So are there any better ways to get rid of magma?
I have a volcano by the way.

Hey, First I read somewhere that Magma Traps aren't very useful because if the foe falls into it, then you lose all the useful equipment they might have.

Pump out the magma and drain it off the map. Smooth wall then carve fortifications so you can do it w/o using too much pump stacks.

Yes, fortifications, why didn't I think of that. I feel so stupid now.
and blood, you only lose the non-magma safe stuff like clothes, and they are just more clutter to give to the traders. Iron doesn't melt and can be retained.
