Pathfinding Spam
« on: September 04, 2006, 06:51:00 pm »

Ever since 3 of my dwarves got drowned in my farm, I've been having constant pathfinding problems. It doesn't seem to be isolated to a particular job, or a particular skill. It does seem to keep happening to the same dwarves over and over, and it only got worse when my immigrants arrived. Scrolling back through the announcements, it seems to relate to the dwarves drowning, but I don't know why that would cause this. I've tried to go through everything to see what might be causing the problem, but since the jobs are so spread out, I can't find what might be causing the multiple issues.

I've zipped up my save game, but I really don't have anywhere to host it. I could email it to you, if you'd like to look at it. Let me know.

if they went and drowned in a channel, then the dwarves may be trying to get their corpses/items out and failing. Only cure for that is to wait for a season or two and let them rot away.

I've been getting this for a long time now, even after a season change.

I believe the reason is the skeleton stuck behind the floodgate, it's been happening since I drowned a dwarf whose cadaver got stuck there.

Try digging out the copper above the skeleton. I believe objects usually move when they're in the water, but but because of the odd configuration there I'm guessing it's stuck in place.

Yeah, tomb placement seems to generate more path spam than other jobs.  I've handled a lot of the channel related spam recently, and I hope to get to this particular case soon.
