One of my mechanics was interrupted after beginning construction on an artifact mechanism...is he doomed?

If the construct artifact job was actually interrupted, the dwarf goes irrevocably insane.

More specifically, any time you see the message "[dwarf] cancels Strange Mood: [whatever reason]", the very next message will be the dwarf having gone insane.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
