What would be nice, in my opinion, and (I assume) easy-to-implement, would be a tripline of sorts.

It would be a placeable trap component.
It would be unique in that you could layer it on top of an existing object or trap.
Other than that, it should be similar to a pressure plate. Perhaps it would be nice if it detected flow rather than actual liquid volume.

Just anything to make trap-designing even more fun would be a welcome addition. Just throwing it out there. :)

Examples of what you could do with them:

-Trapdoor into magma
-Floor spikes triggered by tripwire
-Separating baby animals from parents based on size
-Splitting enemy armies up based on size
-More complex trap hallways
-Traps on top of grates
-Atom-smasher landmines

Given the ability to detect items, this could be used to sort debris from sieges as well. Utilize a "shaker" composed of retractable bridges, and use tripwires on trapdoors to detect heavy items (hopefully iron) and drop it through.

I'll admit I didn't search for that, Footkerchief, but if you had, you would have found that none of those ideas suggested a trap component that could be layered on top of another trap.

This allows for all sorts of things not mentioned in the other threads. I can name a few of these off the top of my head:

-Trapdoor into magma
-Floor spikes triggered by tripwire
-Separating baby animals from parents based on size
-Splitting enemy armies up based on size
-More complex trap hallways
-Traps on top of grates
-Atom-smasher landmines

Given the ability to detect items, this could be used to sort debris from sieges as well. Utilize a "shaker" composed of retractable bridges, and use tripwires on trapdoors to detect heavy items (hopefully iron) and drop it through.

Yeah but the problem is a bit different. If floor spikes are triggered by a trip wire then does it happen instantly or with a delay. And if it has a delay then how do you make that work?
