How does sneaking work?

I try sneaking, but it seems to me that enemies will always know where I am. Do I have to hide behind trees and stuff while sneaking? The only time I find sneaking to be useful is when I get ambushed in a forest and I sneak behind a bunch of trees

the lower your sneaking skill the easier it is for enemies to spot you. More dangerous enemies like minotaurs and dragons are better at spoting you and blinded creatures can't spot you at all. nless they are naturally blind like blind cave trolls or something , then i don't know how it works.

The [EXTRAVISION] tag lets naturally blind creatures see like normal creatures.

When your sneaking skill is high enough, you get hilarious situations where you're hacking them to death and they still can't see you.

Legendary ambushing plus legendary lashing and a silver whip makes you an ultimate megabeast killer.

*Sneak up next to a dragon*
*Whip aiming at head*
*Brain is punctured, dragon dead*

This works for pretty much anything, actually, but I prefer to use different weapons and styles throughout a game.
