So after waiting ages for my first artifact to show up, my Jeweler suddenly jumps up and crafts this flawless gem, not too sure what I'm to do with it. It's worth 7200.

Absolutely nothing! It will serve you no purpose whatsoever, But at least it's (presumably)pretty.

The really annoying thing about these is that you can't even stick them in a stockpile, due to the bug where large gems don't get put in any stockpile.  It's a good reason to use the display case building mod.
