[33g] River Delta/Source Issue
« on: January 07, 2008, 01:22:00 am »

First of all, I would like to say that you are doing an awesome job ToadyOne.  I really enjoy DF.

I have this delta which I believe is flowing the wrong direction.  It seems to be supplying the water to the rest of the river when I tried to dam it off.  It causes a large amount of lag too.  If you would like I can upload the save file.

I think that's not a bug or a delta for that matter.  Its just how the game starts all rivers.  Like a spring or whatever.

A delta is where a river flows into an ocean.  A brook can't flow into nothing.

I've had a delta attempt to flow into a river start. It looked like 2 deltas coming together, but they didn't touch. I don't have the world anymore, so I can't post images, but the disconnected side started draining away.

It was a large river too, about 20 or so tiles. Plus there was a 3 tile waterfall about 8 z-levels up, so it was laggy as hell.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Eh? Where is the ocean in that video?

Just looks like the start of a brook...

I suppose it isn't a delta then.  The shape is misleading.  That doesn't resolve the horrible source of lag though.  I know that fluids are laggy but this one river takes the cake.

That is not a delta, it is a source. A spring. That's what the beginnings of brooks (and thus rivers, etc) look like.
