Dwarf lost a baby...

...yet didn't receive an unhappy thought. You'd think that having your child ripped from your arms, stuffed into a fox leather bag, and kidnapped would be slightly... oh I don't know... depressing? But who can fathom the dwarven mind? (the same mind that will make one go on a murderous rampage at the loss of a single masterpiece bolt).

Heh, I remember in last version I was running a generational fortress with the metalsmith and his wife. Immigration was disabled, and the fort was populated by their children.

The kids had swarmed the mother when she was working at the magma forge, when a magma man hopped out. He killed four children before dieing. The mother was still estatic, even though she had the thought about losing a child recently.

Several years later, a bunch of ratmen invaded via the chasm. I sent my crossbow armed military to take care of them, one of which was carrying a stack of masterwork bolts made by the aforementioned mother. They made short work of the ratmen, but one ratmen was pushed into the chasm by a fine shot by the one with the masterwork bolts. The mother immediately went from estatic to miserable, tantrumed, and killed three of her children (who were huddled around her). She even threw her baby across the room (who was remarkably unharmed, and was picked up once the tantrum was over).

So yeah, they obviously care much much less for their children than they do their "masterwork bolts," even if they have made hundreds upon hundreds of the bolts.

He wasn't stolen.  Once they get to the goblin fortress, he will cut his way out of the bag and turn the place into a bloodbath.  He'll be a legendary swordsdwarf, legendary wrestler and legendary ambusher by the time he comes back.  Dwarven rite of passage!
