Offering goods to a caravan crashes the game

In both of my previous fortresses I've managed to crash the game by offering goods to the caravan. It was the dwarven caravan in the first game, and the human caravan in the second.

I don't have a save, as I hadn't saved the game in a while when the crashes happened (although from now on I will always save before offering goods, so I may get save with a reproducable bug soon). Has anyone else had this happen?

It was Bug 258, but I couldn't reproduce it.  I'll need a save to figure it out, since I couldn't find anything in the code when I checked.

I have a save of this bug. It's happened on three different occasions so far. If you're still interested in the problem.

We're at the point where will just have to see if it's in the new one.  Hopefully it's not.  I remember finding something in there, but I don't remember what offhand.

I too have had this bug, one of the things i noticed prior to the crash was that some of the items i had just offered were on the wrong side of the trading window. That is, the items turned green, but didn't move over to the left hand side.
I was offering a large number of mugs... and by large i mean zomgwtfheaps

Yeah, somebody else had this happen (without the crashing) on IRC right as you were posting this.  I've written it down, so if we still get offer crashes in the new one I'll be more equipped to handle it.
