Save Corruption in Adventure Mode (!)
« on: February 18, 2007, 11:24:00 pm »

This seems like a rather nasty bug, and hasn't been reported to my knowledge. (Sorry, I'm not looking through the few thousand bugs)

I was playing an Axedwarf slaying several kobolds in a cave, and had to leave. So I save my game, and lo and behold-- an error. And my client crashes. And error box pops up and I hit close by instinct... (sorry!) I half-heartedly restart the client and try to load the file, but this yeilds a popup, titled error: 'inflate error: -3', and my client, as a result, closes several seconds after hitting OK (the only choice).

Errorlog.txt contains 64 lines of
'Site Map:  Extra Item Occupancy'.

I have the save file at hand if needed.

I hope I have been of assistance.

Free-to-play games are like the fountains in NetHack. At first, they look refreshing, but when you approach snakes pour out and eat you.

This indicates that the game crashed while it was trying to write out the data.  An inflate error indicates that the decompression failed, and the data isn't recoverable at all.  The world is lost.

I've seen these happen only twice, both times when I was running the game over a network drive.

Backup often.  It's still in alpha.
