The hapybox project
« on: October 29, 2011, 01:26:23 pm »

The idea is fairly simple - To create a fortress that is divided into many many cubes that each contain 6 dwarves. The cubes would be 6x6x6 large and contain everything needed to sustain the 6 dwarves for as long as possible and allow them to keep pumping out textiles. The floors are numbered 1 to 6 starting from the top. The top floor would sontain the bedrooms. each dwarf would have a bed, a cabinet and a chest. The second floor would contain 5 tales and 5 chairs. The 3 floor would contain statues. This would act as a sort of meeting place where the 5 dwarvess can waste time and accumilate happyness. The fourth floor would contain 3 workshops that would be used to produce all of the products that the dwarves need.
The fifth floor would contain a farm that grows pig tails. And the sixth floor would contain a farm meant for growing plump helmets. The sixth floor would also contain acsess to water via a hole in the floor that is connected to an overall water pipe that runs throughout the whole system. The third floor would also have a floodgate door that would be openeed only once every 5 years to collect the products orr in the slight chance of a mood.

The hapybox. Funded by CAvERN-sociall experiments since the age of myth.

This would be merely interesting were it not for the name, and the fact that it is entirely devoted to textiles.  In some sort of bizarre Paranoia-esq scheme you have devoted dorf lives to making cloth in a horrifying life-long sweatshop.  Now all you need is to mod in uppers and you're set.

Ok. I fixed the name to suit it. I just thought that they need an occupation. It would be interesting.

I think the only way to improve it is to construct a water calculator A.I. overseer who would periodically automatically seal off some doors and isolate the dwarves therein for a year or so.  You know...for science...

That layout would require quite a lot of micromanagement, I generally prefer what I call deathbox: one huge pit in the earth with water and magma pipes running randomly along over the place and some randomly placed statues to rise happiness.

Also if you place 4 workshops in 6*6 square you won't be able to place stairs inside the setup.

I think 1 planter and 1 brewer/cook (in 1 dwarf) should be enough, sufficient skill level given.

Hi! Yeah but then I might as well make 4x4 blocks that contain 2 dwarves.

Not that this wouldn't be interesting. You could always try out 4x4 blocks with a male/female couple each, let them raise their kids. Then when the kids hit adulthood you pair them up with the kid of another block. Create the perfect dwarven race.

Wouldn't productivity drop as the dwarves slow due to alcohol deprivation?

You need to grow and mill Dimple Cups to get an effective cloth industry, otherwise you loose out on a lot of the value.

I blame you! Now I shall do it.
