Yeah, most "late game" tests have been artificially run in debug modes of various kinds.  I'm sure there will be lots of issues, like we're finding with rest after the economy turns on right now...  at least I've stopped that message spam for the next release.  I wonder how large Fuzzpilz gamelog.txt is.

Umm, I'd really appreciate some help with the insane people. I'm running two games (one at work and one at home, actually) and both had someone in a Strange mood lately.

Well, as I said, I didn't find any rubies for the jeweler, and now he's walking around "stricken by melancholy". This didn't worry me until I played a bit at home, where I had a dwarf go insane. He ran around naked, babbling, apparently forgetting to drink or eat. Eventually he died of thirst. Could I have prevented this after he went insane? The jeweler's still alive, so can I do anything to save him?

EDIT: Playing at work isn't really as bad as it sounds, as my job's a little different and I have a lot of breaks, by the way

Ok, thanks. The poor guy's dehydrated at the moment. Well, I'll begin setting up a nice little coffin for him.

What's wrong with these guys?! Yet another dwarf claiming stuff and mumbling nonsense. This one claimed a clothes maker's shop and mutters about blocks, bricks, cloth and thread.

No-one's taking anything to him. He's one of my best craftsdwarves and I don't want him to die.

From what I've seen in my games, he should go fetch the ingredients himself, if they exist.

I could be wrong, though.

Well, he's not doing that either. What the hell does he want? I'd rather he at least died violently if he has to die. My brave dwarves must die fighting, not of thirst or something else lame.

I've just crossed the chasm, so maybe I'll mistakenly unleash a balrog or something before he dehydrates. That'd be a hero's death.

EDIT: Yay! He's begun a mysterious construction! Third "strange mood", and this time it looks like the dwarf isn't dying!

Yet.

ANOTHER EDIT: I know no-one's interested, but... He's done. He has made Gisëkavéd, "Cobraclobbered". Which happens to be a pair of shoes.

Actually the game says it's "a Pig tail shoes", so there's a kind of a typo/bug for you to squash, Toady.

There are lots of little problems with the articles -- a lot of them are capitalized strangely too...  also, 6 marble + 1 fox bone = "plant fiber sword" once.  We don't want artifacts like that.

We need a thread for random ramblings about the game.. I'll use this one until then.

You're a genius, Toady! The game's much more than I thought it would be, and that was a lot.

I just noticed that the hallways of my fortress are turning red.. from blood. There's been no animals there and no-one's hurt. The blood's slowly spreading from the entrance. I wonder if this is going to be one of those "Something cruel but fun" reqs..

I'm ready for something very violent to happen, something probably killing all my dwarves and so on.. It's about time, too. It's been too easy for them..

I find myself almost wishing for them to be killed in some very violent and cool looking way. Losing IS fun.

I think it's the blood of the insects/small animals that are crawling around. It would be good if these blood marks disappeared with time, but they seem to stay forever.

I don't think so. My English is not good enough to explain this, but I'll try. It started as one red tile just on the entrance and started slowly to spread to adjacent tiles. Last time I looked it had spread some 25-30 tiles away from the entrance, and there's no grey tiles at all between the entrance and the last tiles that turned red. The whole hallway until that point and all rooms there have bloody floors.

If it's insects or something, they've been pretty systematic about where to die.

Blood is spread by walking through it (including hidden thieves and ambushers), and can be created by vermin killed in doors.  It currently keeps on spreading and spreading, and the dwarves have better things to do than clean it most of the time.  It never dries, so it won't stop spreading, and it never goes away inside.  Minor issues that eventually need some fixage, especially now that there is an export local BMP option in dwarf mode, and many of the large impressive fortresses will be covered with blood.

Damn.. It was looking so good for a while.Bleeding doors.

I wonder how much blood that vermin has in it. There must be already several litres spread on the floor.

I don't remember ever seeing vermin bleeding at all. Maybe my dwarves have been busier lately and just cleaned it before.

But anyway, my point that started this all was just that the game is even more amazing than I thought it would be. This had nothing to do with bleeding doors, I noticed the spreading while writing that.

Oh, is that what this is?  I thought it was blood pouring out of my well because I've deliberately starved one of my insane dwarves to death (and then kept the door to his room tightly closed and locked until he rotted away to nothingness, thereby preventing any other dwarves from getting any sad thoughts by learning about his death.)
