Blood Soaked Landscapes
« on: October 28, 2011, 12:32:11 pm »

I am usually one for efficiency and tidiness.  However, I can't help but feel that elaborate set ups to incinerate, melt, drown, and/or cryogenically freeze enemies are, while dwarfy, just not as much fun as mangling them up in the good old fashioned way; with pointy bits and blunt force trauma.

Having tons of blood, vomit, and body parts strewn all over the map probably isn't the best for framerate, but it puts a smile on my face.  Anything that comes to visit my fort has to muck through a field of half rotten sunbaked corpses, I like to believe it makes them think twice before doing something stupid.  Anyone else have this affinity for carnage?  Share your gorey accomplishments!

Yes, that's the blood of a thousand goblins, trolls, dwarves, kobolds, elves, and humans.  It used to just be a coating on all my dwarves, but I had to wash them off so that the world could see, and tremble.

Take note of the massive swath of burnt land.  That's what happens when you make a new race of battle-hungry dragon-men.

I'm pretty apathetic either way. As long as whatever the blood belonged to is now safely stored away in the corpse room(or the bottom of a lake, or turned into oblivion), I don't care what it leaves behind. The dwarves can clean it, craft it, eat it, whatever.

Sadly I lost my screenshot of my 3-row hallway of clear sawblades.  Everything was red, with long skipping splotches when parts would fly out.

I pride myself on having patches of titan blood here and there.

Gizogin: what is the purpose of those yellow fortifications surrounded by green walls in your screenshot?

On topic: I currently mostly play Fortress Defense mod, so my maps are usually full of blood, gore and body parts...
and my haulers' primary job is magma dumping body parts.

I don't believe those are fortifications, just 3x3 constructed wall squares. Smoothed or constructed walls connect with every adjacent wall; most just don't bother filling in the center of a square.

I'm in a rainy biome so all my blood gets washed away.

I think its fun nice while its happening (ten rows of Giant Steel Axes) but after that I end up cleaning it because the red draws my attention too much from more important matters.
