Do you mean, dorfy cruel or dorfy stupid? I tend to mostly do the latter...
Like digging into the side of a volcano to see what would happen, then realising that I'd built the entrance of my fort directly below it in a valley, and that no, it wouldn't run out of lava... And then, trying to dig out a new home out of the reach of the lava, I accidentally tapped an aquifier or similiar, sending a heap of water pouring out of the side of a mountain, flooding down to meet the lava in the valley and creating some nice obsidian walls, but not really solving any problems.
Oh, and I tried to dig lava-proof water moats too, that didn't work...
