bags problem [33g]
« on: January 03, 2008, 01:52:00 pm »

If i have empty bags lying near kitchen/dining room (any other place that produce seeds), they will be filled with seeds (two or three seeds per bag). This is when I've got more than 200 bags already filled with 2-3 seeds for the same type (so enough room for seeds still exists in the bag) but this bags are somewhat further than an empty ones. So i have tons of seeds bags and not enough bags left for sand collecting jobs.

This has always been an issue.  The best way to handle this problem is to have a dedicated seed stockpile with only 1 or 2 spots.  This will help limit the number of bags used so you can also keep 20 or 30 bags for sand.

so if space in my seeds stockpile runs out dwarfs should start filling the bags? Well... 100 more bags left  :) (I've got separate stockpiles for different kind of seeds 6 tiles each... 5 stockpiles total)

as far as i can tell currently dwarfs will take a seed to the nearest bag and then will take it to the food stockpile, so if their is no room they just leave the seed bag in the furniture stockpile

My experience has been just the opposite:  If I don't assign enough stockpile space for seeds specifically, my dwarves will stash those that don't fit into whatever bag comes handy, and then not be able to store the bag.  YMMV.
