Not sure if bug or super-efficient legendary weapons training
« on: October 22, 2011, 01:15:48 am »

So yeah, I found an alter with a bronze colossus randomly at very low levels (Like, half an hour after starting out) and I quickly sneaked out all the items and left. However, I can back with my peasants after I had them, because I forgot what it was and was investigating. The peasants ran off to attack the thing and I thought 'Well, time to get some new followers than...'

However, they hit the thing about ten times while I'm walking around, without getting hit back. Curious, I walk up to it at slice it a few times with my knife, of course bouncing off, and it doesn't respond.

Long story short, I wailed on it for about an ingame day and leveled two weapons skills to legendary (knife fighting and maceman), as well as getting fighter to I think legendary+8.

It's worth noting that there was a lone buzzard attacking the colossus, and it was stationary both night and day. It was also outside of the alter area if that makes a difference.

So yeah, is this a bug, game feature, old trick or did I accidentally discover a new way to train?

The question is: how do you profaine a temple dedicated to pure greed?

BC's are awesome for weapons training because they are so hard to kill.

Old trick.

There was a time when cocksuits would have offended me. It's kind of bad that the time has passed.

Well, I knew that BC were great for training. The part I didn't know whether or not was a bug was the whole "not attacking back" part

If you really want to level fighter just go and wrestle animals. If you can make an elephant pass out you can strangle them for hours and get a h00000j wrestling level and high stats quickly.

I like to wrestle zombies more myself, as they're less likely to roll over in their sleep and skoosh me flat... But elephants would work.

Also, training swords/spears/axes half the damage you do so... Cornering some poor rhino or whatever and cutting it's feet off with a proper weapon beforehand, you can get a LOT of experience wailing on it.

Well, I now have an urge to end sentient life.

I think I'll go meditate for a bit.

Wow. See if you can find anoyher BC that sits passively, pondering the definition of life if a statue with no need to eat, sleep, drink or reproduce, yet be sentient and animate. One that ponderously questions its place in the universe, and why it does anything if it does not have a reason to do, and more importantly why has there been so much noise the past couple of days.

Girlinhat: The biggest issue seems to be size.  A 1x1 room would allow for maximum child desecration.

The Colossus McThinkTank has come! A huge statue made of bronze and bent on the futility of life! Beware his philosophical theories!
