Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Just trying to get them to do something to FIX the problem was impossible after the downward spiral of "I HATE THIS PLACE! Life sucks!"

Though I did recover.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I think that is the whole !!FUN!! aspect if you think about it....getting your ass handed to you by something even from internal...and trying to recover, YAY if you do...blah start over or reclaim if you don't (I think i stll might do that haha)

I have a fort in a semi-freezing area, meaning the snow melts come spring but the river and pods never ever unfreeze.  So I have had to pay very close attention to booze supplies, moreso than usual.

By "booze supplies" do you mean "magma levels under the stream" or do you really just mean booze?

Caves have water in them by the way...

I think you just let 130 dwarves die for no reason. Welcome to the family.

This generally happens the second your alcohol hits 0 =( I agree though, no back up water supply is NOT going to end well

You just watched your fort kill itself and found it hilarious.  ONE-OF US! ONE-OF-US! ONE-OF-US!

Booze is more important than food.  Hungry dwarves can hunt vermin, or grab a plump helmet before a brewer [tsk]s it, and needs half as much as he needs drink.  A thirsty dwarf can drink water but at what cost?  and if water isn't available, say due to cold... this happens.

Two stills early and some create rock pots /r action... it's easier to stop booze production and let brewable food accumulate than to restart a failed booze industry, especially if lack of vessels is the problem.

I currently have 3200 booze units, and I'm still making more... I have experienced alcohol running out while in the middle of a siege.  That did not end well, as no-one pulled the lever and it's hard to brew with goblins and insane axedwarves running around...

By the way, I've got magma below my stream and it still freezes.  Any tricks to this?

Oh what was I happy when I discovered rock pots... many a dwarf had been lost due to a lack of wood and barrels...

Rarely you can have caves with NO water in 'em at all.

I think you need 'flowing' magma for it to melt ice above, like magma going from 1 to 6 units per tile and never actually filling up to 7 because temps in DF are crazy like that.

For some reason my last fort never actually used my god damn rock pots. I had dozens of 'em and everyone still whined about the lack of storage units to make booze with. Do I need to disable large pots from furniture stockpiles, glaze 'em or what?

If they're unglazed clay pots, they won't hold booze. According to the wiki, there might be a bug with pots in furniture stockpiles.

It might be because of the version of DF. In some of the earlier versions with rock pots there was a bug keeping them from being used.
