[33g] (and the earlier releases) owners are confused by

This is an old one. It is not mentioned in the list of reported bugs. I did not find anything about it when searching on "holdings". Anyway:

The game confuses (merges) some dwarves, so that they both possess the same items. For example, i want to station a guard somewhere and make a bed or an armour rack for him. The quirk might be when not only the guard tries to sleep there, or they both admire their beautiful holdings.

It can produce problems. Perhaps if they both own a chest, something strange is going to happen with the currency - for example.

yes, well the fact that female dwarves are so alike in stature and facial hair leads people to believe that there are no female dwarves!

Except in D&D.  They solved that by creating a female dwarf no one would think of putting a beard on (see the D&D 4E dwarf).
