THEY ARE FUCKING POISONOUS. Why aren't there more platypi in RPG's? They would make awesome lower-mid level mooks.

Actually, the males only have the two barbs, one on each hind leg/foot/flipper thing. They really don't use it all that much.

Still poisionous. Not to mention they look like God set off a bomb in his workshop and then put the nearest objects together. It's probably one of the dwarfiest animals ever.

I have to give you that, for sure. Platypi are pretty much the greatest things ever. They lay eggs and lactate! Through their stomachs! Speaking of, are they milkable in vanilla? I've never really taken the time to check...

Well, I was thinking flipping through some Dragon magazines, the old 3.5 D&D magazine and I found rules in #341 for a platypus familiar. Then while looking for an embark, I thought to myself that I should herd platypi, make platypi armor and food, collect their eggs, have an awesome platypi industry.

Let's recap: they produce eggs, milk, could conceivably be sheared, and they deliver poisonous murder. Best animal ever?
