[33g] building and removing a floor can permanently chan
« on: December 31, 2007, 08:36:00 pm »

When constructing floors (in my testing I used rough stone as the material) on non-layer tiles such ores or gemstones, and then removing those floors, the base floor type will permanently change from the non-layer tile to the dominant layer type.  For instance, I had hematite in a silt layer go from a hematite floor to a rough limestone block floor to "furrowed silt" (not sure why it was furrowed) and a microcline floor in an andesite layer go from microcline to rough andesite block to andesite.

Now that you mention it, I had this happen to me at one point, too, though it only happened for a couple magnetite tiles out of a cluster. They turned into Conglomerate, if it matters at all. I thought I was just seeing things.

Furrowed is just what happens when you remove a construction on loam/silt/etc

It happens with roads, too. But that's good when you need soil to farm on in high mountains.
